What happened

Joelson, a London-based law firm, has advised cybersecurity startup Cyb3r Operations on closing a £4 million ($5.4 million) funding round led by Octopus Ventures, with participation from existing investor Pi Labs. This latest investment brings Cyb3r Operations’ total funding to about £5 million (~$6.75 million). The capital will be used to expand the company’s platform capabilities and boost its threat intelligence offerings to help organisations manage third-party and supply-chain cyber risks.

Who is affected

The funding primarily impacts Cyb3r Operations and its investors, enabling the company to accelerate development and market adoption of its cybersecurity solutions. Organisations that rely on supply-chain and third-party risk management tools could benefit from enhanced capabilities in monitoring and mitigating external cyber risks. The broader cybersecurity ecosystem may see increased focus on continuous, automated risk oversight as a result of this investment.

Why CISOs should care

Third-party and supply-chain risks are a growing vector for cyber incidents, with more than a third of significant breaches involving external partners. Traditional approaches, such as annual questionnaires and static risk assessments, are increasingly insufficient in dynamic digital environments. Cyb3r Operations’ platform aims to provide real-time visibility and actionable insights into external risk exposures, which aligns with an urgent need for CISOs to enhance situational awareness beyond their direct perimeter.

3 practical actions

  1. Review third-party risk tools: Evaluate whether your current risk-management tools offer continuous monitoring and actionable insights versus periodic, static reports.
  2. Prioritise dynamic oversight: Integrate solutions that automatically map and assess supplier and SaaS ecosystem risks to detect vulnerabilities earlier.
  3. Invest in threat intelligence: Strengthen your organisation’s ability to anticipate and respond to evolving external threats by leveraging advanced intelligence feeds and analytics.
