Europe’s software companies power everything from remote access and accounting to industrial design and construction, which means a security failure in one product can ripple through thousands of customers. The four CISOs below protect some of the continent’s most important software makers in Germany, the Netherlands, and France, and their paths into security reflect how deep the field’s roots run. One worked as a student researcher at CERN and earned a PhD in physics before spending nearly two decades as a CISO. Another helped build Google’s BeyondCorp, the first zero trust enterprise implementation. A third started as a COBOL programmer at an insurer, and a fourth began in IT at the City of Munich before spending 20 years at Allianz.
Jan Bee – CISO, TeamViewer
Jan Bee trained as an IT specialist at WebArt Internet Services, where he built software for intrusion detection and prevention appliances, while working as a freelance application developer on the side. He joined Google after an internship and spent nearly nine years there, first developing security software for BeyondCorp, the company’s zero trust enterprise built from scratch, and then as tech lead for security engineering, covering security assurance, vulnerability management, vendor audits, acquisition security, and penetration testing. After consulting independently, he led product security at robotics maker KUKA, focusing on industrial cybersecurity and IEC 62443. Bee joined TeamViewer in 2023 as director of product security and became CISO in August 2025, leading global security across product, corporate, and platform security. He discussed TeamViewer’s secure-by-design approach in an in-depth interview with The Register in 2025.
Cindy Wubben – CISO Public Segment, Visma
Cindy Wubben started at insurer Klaverblad Verzekeringen, including as a COBOL programmer, and spent nearly 14 years at ABN AMRO, moving from project manager to information security officer and implementing ISO 27001 within the business. She went on to lead security and compliance and serve as data protection officer at EBPI and Visma Connect, overseeing information security, privacy, quality, and risk. Wubben became CISO of Visma Benelux in 2021 and CISO of Visma’s Public Segment in October 2023, working with more than 50 software companies on security governance, NIS2 and ISO 27001 compliance, and the responsible use of AI. She is Visma’s spokesperson in the Netherlands, speaks at events including Cybersec Europe, serves as a Women in Tech ambassador, and was nominated for CxO of the Year at the 2026 Computable Awards.
Wojtek Swiatek – VP Global Cybersecurity, Dassault Systèmes
Dr. Wojtek Swiatek began in science, working as a student researcher at DESY in Hamburg and at CERN, and as a research fellow at AGH University of Science and Technology while earning his PhD in physics. He taught IBM server technologies as an instructor, then spent more than a decade at Motorola, launching two greenfield software design centers as EMEA IT director, protecting its R&D centers worldwide, and leading security services across EMEA. He was also a founding member of (ISC)²’s European Advisory Board. Swiatek joined Dassault Systèmes in 2008 and spent more than 17 years as VP and CISO, responsible for information protection across the group worldwide, before becoming VP of global cybersecurity in January 2026. He has spoken at Black Hat MEA and on a BFMTV panel on agentic AI, and contributes to open source projects and science teaching in his spare time.
Thomas Stocker – CISO, Nemetschek Group
Thomas Stocker started in IT at the City of Munich before joining Allianz in 2000 as an IT architect. Over more than 20 years there, he served as CISO of Allianz SE and its holding company for 11 years, then as deputy to the group CISO, and finally as head of IT risk management for the Allianz Group. Stocker became CISO of Nemetschek Group, the Munich-based software company for architecture, engineering, and construction, in March 2021.
Securing the Software Supply Chain
These four CISOs bring very different strengths to software security. Bee and Swiatek carry deep engineering and research experience, from Google’s zero trust work to particle physics, while Wubben and Stocker built their careers in governance, compliance, and risk at major financial institutions. Together they help ensure that the software European businesses rely on every day is built and run securely.
