What happened

Israeli cybersecurity startup Act Security closed a $40 million Series A round, bringing its total funding to $60 million just four months after its $20 million Seed round. The investment round was led by U.S.-based Notable Capital, with participation from Startpoint Capital’s Sharin Fisher Dibrov, Claltech, Access’s investment arm, and early backers including Bessemer Venture Partners, Team8, Hetz Ventures, and Brightmind. Act Security is building a platform focused on securing cloud infrastructure and data centers.

Who is affected

The funding boost positions Act Security to expand its team (currently ~30 employees) and accelerate development of its cybersecurity platform. The company was founded by veterans Jonathan Langer (CEO), Itay Kirshenbaum (CTO), Stephen Goldberg (CPO), and Ilai Fallach (Chief R&D), all of whom bring experience from their earlier venture Medigate, which was acquired by Claroty in 2021.

Why CISOs should care

CISOs are increasingly tasked with protecting distributed cloud environments, hybrid workloads, and modern data center architectures. Act Security’s rapid capital raise signals strong investor confidence in solutions aimed at closing gaps in cloud and data center security, areas where threats continue to evolve. As cloud adoption grows, CISOs must evaluate emerging vendors like Act Security that align with strategic defense priorities and address risks not fully covered by legacy tools.

3 practical actions

  1. Review cloud and data center risk posture: Conduct a current-state assessment to identify blind spots in cloud configurations, identity access controls, and lateral trust paths.
  2. Re-evaluate vendor ecosystem: Benchmark existing security tools against new entrants like Act Security for capabilities such as context-aware detection and automated remediation tailored for cloud and hybrid environments.
  3. Engage founders and execs: Connect with leaders such as Jonathan Langer, Itay Kirshenbaum, and Stephen Goldberg for insights on evolving threats and how to integrate new approaches into your security strategy.Â
